Every year DC Jobs with Justice holds the “I’ll Be There” Awards, where they recognize organizations and individuals in the area for outstanding solidarity. It is my pleasure to share that this year the Metro Washington Public Health Association will be one of the awardees! We were nominated in recognition of our recent efforts advocating for housing for persons with HIV/AIDS, as well as for years of solidarity with poor and working people in DC, and on-going efforts to involve public health community in issues of social and economic justice through a health disparities lense.
The awards ceremony will take place on Thursday, June 11th from 5:30 -7:30pm at the AFL-CIO building, 815 16th St. NW. All MWPHA members and allies are welcome to attend. The Governing Council is truly honored and as your new President I am honored to accept the award on behalf of MWPHA. To learn more about Jobs with Justice please visit their website.
